United South End Settlements headquarters is occupied by protesters.

May 6, 1968

Members of Community Assembly for a United South End, along with some USES staff members, occupy the building at 20 Union Park. The demonstrators are protesting the organization’s contract with the Boston Redevelopment Authority to provide relocation services to those displaced by urban renewal. After a week-long occupation, USES director Ken Brown releases an announcement that it will withdraw from the relocation contract on May 13, 1968.
